La Loba - The Wolf

There is an old woman who lives in a soul hiding place that everyone knows but very few have seen. As in the fairy tales of Eastern Europe, the old woman hopes that those who have gone astray, the walkers and the seekers come to see her.
She is circumspect, often hairy and always fat, and above all, wants to avoid any kind of company. Cacarea like chickens, sings like birds and usually emits more animal sounds than humans.
You could say that she lives among the worn granite slopes of the Indian territory of Tarahumara. Or that is buried outside of Phoenix, in the vicinity of a well. Maybe we could see her traveling south to Monte Albán on an old truck with the rear glass broken by a shot. Or waiting at the edge of the freeway near El Paso or moving with truck drivers to Morelia, Mexico, or heading to the market of Oaxaca loaded with bundles of firewood made up of branches of strange shapes. She is known by different names: La Huesera, La Trapera and La Loba.
The Wolf's only task is to collect bones. She collects and preserves everything that is in danger of being lost. Her cave is full of bones of all the creatures of the desert: deer, rattlesnakes, ravens. But her specialty is the wolves.
She crawls and climbs the mountains and streams in search of wolf bones, and when she has gathered a whole skeleton, when the last bone is in place and has before her the beautiful white sculpture of the creature, she sits down together to the fire and think what song is going to sing.
When she has already decided, she stands next to the creature, raises her arms over her and starts singing. Then the bones of the ribs and the bones of the legs of the wolf are covered with flesh and the creature grows its hair. The Wolf sings a little more and the creature comes alive and its strong, hairy tail curves upwards.
The Wolf continues to sing and the wolf creature begins to breathe.
The Wolf sings with such intensity that the desert floor shudders and, while she sings, the wolf opens its eyes, it leaps and it escapes running canyon down.
At some point in his career, due to the speed or splash in the water of a stream that is crossing, a ray of sun or a ray of moon that directly illuminates the side, the wolf suddenly becomes a woman who runs freely toward the horizon, laughing with laughter.
Remember that if you enter the desert and is about to put the sun or maybe you have lost a little and you feel tired, you are lucky, well it could be that you fell in thanks to La Loba and she taught you something ... a thing of the soul.
