Falls Creek Falls

            This waterfall has been on my list for a long time.  The hike was not fun.  Maybe that's what kept me away so long.  Almost every image posted of this waterfall complains about the hike.  The day was warm, and for some reason up there on the mountain it was even warmer.  Then the hike is all uphill, my phone said it was 43 stories of walking up.  We are not in the best shape, so this was hard for the team.  The dog did not seem happy either.    

The reward was worth it.  This waterfall is so much bigger than it looks in images.  So much bigger.  Not only was the sight amazing but as you get close enough to hear the falls, the temperature also drops about 15 degrees.  Once there, we did not want to leave.  At least we knew the hike back was all downhill.  

I found it hard to get an original composition at this waterfall.  The two tiers makes it tough to go too far to the left or too far to the right.  The two falls don't line up if you shift too much.  

I actually had very low expectations going in on the trail.  It was bright, sunny, and shadows were everywhere.  When we got there, yup, it was a neat waterfall, but the sun was not working with me at all.  I set up the tripod anyway, settled in, and not more than 1 minute after sitting there, these clouds came from nowhere and provided the perfect waterfall shooting conditions- soft even light.  I snapped like crazy for about 4 minutes, and then the cloud cover was gone and the scene looked horrible again.  I could not believe the luck.
