Views through time

            We had been to the Southwest and seen many fantastic puebloian structures.  The regular ones, like Mesa Verde are great, but they are also very popular.  So we took a deeper dive and started exploring the places that were more off the beaten path, specifically places like Wupatki and Chaco.  These places blew us away.  They seemed so much more intimate.  You could see the history so much better when you are alone.  While these places were great, they were still easy to find, they are National Park Sites after all.  I wanted to dive even deeper, not smaller sites, but ones that were not even listed on National Park sites.  I wanted to find locations that were off the grid.  Places that took a serious amount of digging to even locate. This spot is actually within Bears Ears, but still hard to get to.   

Yes, I know its bad that data exists online to allow someone to find these places.  When you visit with respect though, they can be witnessed and preserved.  The places we saw on this trip were astounding, and hard as hell to access.  In fact, we got back from this trip and traded the Subaru Outback for a lifted Subaru Accent essentially just to go back and see more, harder to reach places.  I have a few in mind already.  There were a few places I knew about that I could not get to.  Now we just need to find time to go back.  I know even these serious off-the-grid locations are getting more and more popular though, so many of you probably know where this is.  Go in the winter, you will have a much better chance of getting it alone.
