Summit - a photo on Flickriver

            MUST VIEW LARGE

There I stand, short of breath...........13,796 feet above sea level.  Im standing on one of the biggest shield volcanos in history.  To go even further, the tallest volcano on earth.  I look into the distance.  I see another massive volcano........Mauna Loa.  Although Mauna Loa is not as tall as Mauna Kea, its much bigger in size.  I capture one of the most spectacular scenes in my life.  With the sun setting in all of its glory I stare at this landscape in awe.  My image will never describe the light on this evening.  The colors in the sky were sublime.  Above the clouds............it's a different feeling.  Mentally, physically, and emotionally being above everything had me thinking and looking at my photography in a different way.  Am I evolving as a photographer, or was it the altitude getting to my head?  I'm not sure at this point, but I can tell this was a sight to see.  I'm still speechless about this incredible scene.
