Harbour Christmas Lights - a photo on Flickriver

            Nightime photo taken a few days before Christmas 2015 of the river and harbour in the fishing village of Looe, on the South East Cornwall coast, while the Christmas Lights were on (and the tide was out).

There has been a bridge linking the two sides of Looe (East Looe and West Looe) with the first (wooden) bridge) being built in 1411 and the current bridge was built in 
1853 and still in use today for cars and lorries.

The town is quite vulnerable to flooding from the River Looe and there are a lot of 'fisherman's cellars' in the vulnerable parts of the town.  These are houses where the living quarters are upstairs with the ground floor given over to storage for boats, tools, fishing gear etc.  Walking around the town, you certainly notice the houses that have some form of flood barriers on vulnerable parts of the building (doorways etc).
