            When Malachi
The Venusian Fly
Heard the rover derby
Was drawing nigh,
He said to himself
“I think that I
Just might have to
give this a try…”

So off he went,
This Fly so sly
To search for stuff
Both low and high
Some junk perhaps
He could modify
And thereby create
His soap-box ride.

A steering wheel,
A traffic sign,
A yellow cart
D-U-P-L-O inscribed
All these things
He did combine
To build a derby rover
Of Venusian design.

So Malachi
The Venusian Fly
Set off in his rover 
Beneath a clear blue sky
A destined champion 
in his own mind’s eye
For the derby crown
This Fly would vie.
