Shrimping tractors on Lytham beach, Lytham St Annes, Fylde, Lancashire, UK

            The tidal nature of the Ribble Estuary means that shrimping boats in the main channel need to land their catches across an expanse of saltmarsh. Small boats do part of the job, but the main link to the shore is this fleet of veteran tractors.  Even the local RNLI lifeboat is launched from a tractor-towed trailer.

Incidentally, although Lytham has been internationally-renowned for centuries for the harvesting of brown shrimp (Crangon crangon) from the fertile Ribble Estuary, there isn't a significant cockling industry in the area; there are cockle beds, and they're intermittently very productive, but apparently they've only been opened to permit holders three times in the past couple of decades. So these aren't really 'cockling tractors'!
