This Sony E-mount version of the lens uses a different focus motor than the DSLR versions and features a newly developed focus control algorithm that optimises the autofocus drive and maximises the data transmission speed, making it quicker to focus than using the DSLR version of the Sigma 50mm Art with an MC-11 or Metabones adapter (which I did before).

It's also compatible with Sony’s Continuous AF (AF-C) and high-speed autofocus modes, plus the camera's in-body image stabilisation system IBIS, if it's available.

It's also compatible with in-camera lens aberration correction, which includes corrections for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.

Low light AF performance is not as bad as some YouTubers make it out te be. I have a standard test scenario for low light test: a portrait print in a dark corner of my office, the only light source a 35W LED about 5 meters diagonally away to camera left. All myArt lenses (24, 50, 135) had no problem at all to instantly find the eye!

NOTE:: you should always use FE Art lenses in AF-C - that's what they are optimized for! AF-S can be hit & miss sometimes!
