            It's been over fifteen years since the last time I truly went backpacking. Spurred on by one of my closest friends I visited Box Lake north of Mccall, ID this weekend with my backpack, my best friend paige, and myself. The hike tested my endurance as I had forgotten how much hiking with a backpack takes it toll. Loaded down with my overnight gear, food, and all my camera gear I struggled to make it up the short hike of 3.8 miles.....with 1850 vertical feet over the first 2.8 miles. The biggest surprise being my 14 year springer still had the pep of a dog half her age as she sprinted up and down the trail the whole way. It's funny how your imagined comps go all to hell every time you visit a new locale. Planning on getting my first great Milky Way shot this weekend I was downright pissed when i saw the nearly full moon cresting the peaks around me.....oh, yeah....forgot to check the moon phase. Irregardless I was pretty stoked with what I came home with despite the setbacks. Absolutely beautiful location that you must visit if you live in Idaho.
