            Life can be very strange! People cross our paths and in some hidden way direct us in another direction or help us discover something that is needed. Some one dear to my heart led me to Etty Hillesum. Let us call this influence ...Sophia.

Sophia came along, during a very difficult time in my life and then left just as quickly. The pain of rejection (separation) led to despair which paved the way for a blessing far beyond my capacity to absorb with out much reading and reflection. Etty became a necessary companion in my faith journey and remains a "solid" influence in my thinking.

25 February, Wednesday. It is now half past seven in the morning. I have clipped my toenails, drunk a mug of genuine Van Houten's cocoa and had some bread and honey, all with what you might call abandon. I opened the Bible at random but it gave me no answers this morning.
