Torre del Río de Oro - a photo on Flickriver

            The “Torre del Río de Oro” (Tower of the River of Gold) ruins are the remains of a fortified tower in the coast of Huelva, Spain. Built in the first decades of the XVII century, it is part of a series of fortified towers designed to protect the nearby villages against pirate incursions, which were common in those days. I was tempted to remove the ship at the horizon, but I found it funny that it was placed almost right where the MW crosses the horizon.

La Torre del Río de Oro (o del Loro, como se conoce coloquialmente) son los restos de una fortificación en la costa de Huelva, entre Mazagón y Matalascañas. Construida en los primeros años del siglo XVII, es parte de una serie de torres fortificadas levantadas para proteger la costa contra las incursiones de piratas berberiscos, comunes en esa época. Estuve tentado de borrar el barco que se ve en el horizonte, pero me pareción curioso que estuviera casi en el lugar exacto donde la VL cruza el horizonte,
