Porthkerry Viaduct - a photo on Flickriver

Porthkerry Viaduct

            When my Dad and I were exploring this viaduct in 2005, we thought it was disused.  After I took a few shots, we realised a lot of the ballast was fresh - and could hear the distant rumble of a loco approaching!

So we made our way back off the track, up the little walkway on the right of the picture (you can just make out the fence)  and waited above the track in the trees.  Five minutes later, we watched a diesel loco lumber over with about 30 wagons of coal destined for Aberthaw Power Station!!!  We considered ourselves very lucky!
