Ode to Guadalupe Mountains
This trip I hadn’t planned on visiting you
I’ve walked many of the miles to your peaks and valleys
Being at the top of Texas with amazing views
But as I drove from Big Bend to Carlsbad Caverns,
I thought a passing view might be sufficient
Then an article talked of your white sands
And I had to see it and take in the views
I was not to be disappointed!

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in Guadalupe Mountains National Park while walking the white sands of the Salt Basin Dunes. The view is looking towards the west with a sweeping view across this white sands landscape leading up to the distant mountains. I was able to create that look by using some high ground on one of the dunes and angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward. The blue skies and clouds would be that color contrast to complement the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 5 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
