Sightings of the Monitor Butte Across the Utah High Desert

            A view looking to the north-northeast from the Big Mesa overlook along Utah Route 313. Given the mostly cloudy and overcast skies that morning in the area around Moab, I decided to minimize the skies in an image captured of this famous mesa or butte off in the distance. I felt including more of the foreground would add something for the eye to look across as it finally came and took in this point. In some ways, it was a color contrast between the yellows and greens of the near foreground and the reds and browns of the distance midground. The blue gray skies would then act as a final color contrast to complete this setting.

Used a Skylight and Reflector Effects to bring out the look of sunlight on an overcast morning.
