Langs de moskee

Een smalspoortrein van de Bulgaarse spoorwegen BDŽ passeert in het plaatsje Cherna Mesta de kleine dorpsmoskee. De 391 inwoners van het dorp kunnen gebruikmaken van het godshuis en van een stationnetje aan de Rhodopen-lijn. De 760 mm smalspoorlijn is 125 kilometer lang en voert van het in het binnenland gelegen Dobrinischte (Добринище) via de wintersportplaats Bansko (Банско) naar het aan de hoofdlijn naar Sofia en Plovdiv gelegen Septemwri (Септември). De Rhodopen-lijn is de laatste smalspoorlijn van de Bulgaarse spoorwegen. Een rit over de volle lengte van de smalspoorlijn neemt ongeveer vijf uur in beslag.

Naast jongere Roemeense diesellocomotieven zijn er in 1965/66 door Henschel in Kassel tien dieselhydraulische locomotieven van het type DHG 1100 geleverd. De 1100 pk sterke locs beschikken over een twaalfcilinder viertakt Maybach dieselmotor. De locomotief op de foto is de 75 006-7 die uit deze serie stamt.
