Mountain Chickadee (Poecile gambeli); Santa Fe National Forest NM, Thompson Ridge [Lou Feltz]

            Of the seven North American chickadee species, this is the only one that has a white supercilium. If you can make out this feature, it's diagnostic for the ID within this family. Although there are many juvies around at this time, I believe this one to be an adult bird based on the regular, boundaries of the feathering patterns on the head... adults are more crisp.  Sexes are not distinguishable in the field.
