Victoria (BC) and the capital region faces a long discussion about the challenges and advantages of various transportation choices.

Tradition bus systems use existing road and highway networks and, particularly between the urban core and the region's west shore municipalities, buses get stuck in traffic.

Meanwhile, less congested options are available nearby, particularly for the region's high numbers of cyclists. The Galloping Goose regional multi-use trail carries an average of more than 7,000 trips a day, most assuredly much higher in fair weather.

The median between the trail and the highway is coveted land that is planned to accommodate rapid transit, with rail solutions preferred over rapid bus options.

With gas prices continuing to climb and more so with a limited land base, Victoria will need to adapt with non-auto based transportation solutions to accommodate a growing population traveling around the region.
