Tourists Don't Miss a Chance II - a photo on Flickriver

            The First Basin becomes visible through the bushy scrub. The sound of rushing water is immense. On the far side where you can see some green lawn, there is normally a full sized swimming pool that is completely under water. The water swirls around dangerously.

That's what makes the chairlift and the tourists seem so utterly strange. This is a case of the surreal in the real. It is raining quite heavily, as you can see. It is one way to view the flood waters in the Cataract Gorge, but if anything were to go wrong it would be disastrous. Those waters are not survivable.
