THEN London Docks North Woolwich 30th January 1977

            King George V Dock back when it was still a working dock although there weren’t too many ships around. The more distant cranes to the right are on the Royal Albert Dock. 

I had recently seen an item on the TV News that the Royal Docks were going to be closed so I drove through one weekend but stupidly I only took a few photos & now wish I had taken a lot more. However I have just discovered that I took 4 photos on this Sunday and not the 3 that I believed. This one is from the same viewpoint - the Bascule bridge at the east end of the dock - but a wider angle view.

It finally closed to commercial traffic along with the other Royal Docks in 1981 & this is now the site of London City Airport and its STOL runway  - see below.
