20210818-DSC_6080 - Whitetail Deer (in explore)

            Whitetail Deer males (bucks or stags) grow a new set of antlers every year which they shed between December and February following the breeding season. The length and branching of the antlers is determined by nutrition, age and genetics. Normally antler size will increase with age until a male reaches his prime but the growth is greatly influenced by good genetics plus protein and calcium intake during development.
This buck is increasing his protein uptake by foraging in a soybean field while his antlers are still in the velvet stage and still growing and is also being very vigilant.
