Jelly - a photo on Flickriver

A large Barrel Jellyfish (Rhizostoma Octopus) washed up on South Beach at Troon, Scotland. The UK's largest jellyfish that is usually around 40cm in diameter but can grow to 150cm in diameter.

Captured in the low evening light after viewing a property in the area with my partner - please keep your fingers crossed we can get this one. Sealed bids go in tonight and it would be a magical place to live with a garden and just 1 mile from the beach. There was a lot of interest in the place and I don't hold out much hope. I have lived in an apartment since moving from my house in England and have so deeply missed growing my own vegetables, fruit and salad. The Ayrshire climate is one of the better areas of Scotland for growing vegetables too.

Shortly after taking this shot I spent an hour picking plastic up from the tideline on the beach. I was pleased to see that I wasn't the only one out there doing this but it was quite an endless task. Seeing washed up used nappies was an unpleasant sight to behold!
