Far end of Conata Basin - SD Badlands while it was storming.

In fact, driving the 60 miles from Rapid City, we had to pull over and wait for the wind and rain to slow up (there were dozens of cars parked on the shoulders of the interstate).

When we got there, we had to hurry a bit to get the spot to shoot, and it was really compelling to the eyes…

I used my 11-22mm lens on tripod and shot all 3 shot HDR (EV: -2…0…+2) and processed them in Aurora Pro. I still need to toss them into PhotoShop and touch up some bits…

The Sun never actually peaked out of that cloud, but it turned the rain under the cloud bright pink…then there were golds and pinks and oranges in the edges of the clouds.
