A great egret at the Lafitte Nature Park...

Best: View On Black

In the back of the park there is a small rookery. The birds nest in the cypress trees with spanish moss hanging everywhere. The Nature Park is in the town of Lafitte behind a school. It is not far from Jean Lafitte National Park. This area is flooded most of the time so an elevated boardwalk with hand rail runs in a broad circle and the birds are at the back. It is very nice! :-)
