Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca silenus) perched in the Western Ghats Canopy

            This magnificent male Lion-tailed Macaque is captured resting high in the canopy of the shola forests of the Western Ghats, South India. The species is easily recognizable by its unique silvery-white mane framing a black face, and the tuft at the end of its tail. It is one of the most threatened primate species, classified as Endangered due to severe habitat loss and fragmentation across its restricted range. A poignant capture emphasizing the importance of preserving the pristine ecosystem it inhabits.
