A Montagu's Harrier finishing a Meal of the Garden Lizard

            This was on the last day of the trip which was overcast, low light and hence a wash out. 

This Harrier - a male - was sighted consuming a garden lizard gingerly. We initially spotted it from the back, then drove to the front side and the bird was still coolly consuming the Lizard. 

It was interesting to see the bird swallow the long tail in its entirety which I thought was too long to fit into its gullet. Also, I was quite surprised to see the bird swallow the leg and claw with the long nails as it is. I was worried that it may scrape the insides, but the guide assured me that the birds are not harmed. Anyways, its always exciting to see a bird with a catch.
