A crowd gathering around Mona
Is she smiling or is she serious?
Does she see and hear us?

Mona Lisa is watching us. 
And, she is wondering the same things.
It is hard to decipher us humans 
and why we do the things we do.
It is hard to figure out if our smiles have meanings

Now, it is even harder for Mona Lisa
She can only see our eyes. 
She must be a detective each time we 
stand staring rudely in front of her
As if we were the one who mattered.

Mona Lisa spends all of her days
staring out at the humans in existence.
She wakes up really early in the morning
Before anyone else even 
feels like they are still alive.

Mona is wondering if you’re having a good day today
She wonders if you’ll tell someone you care about
How much you really love them.
She thinks it might be time 
you change careers or meet someone new

Will you read a great novel?
Watch an experimental film?
Go to a museum or gallery today?
No matter how much the world changes,
Some things about humans remain the same.

Mona is waiting for you.
