D-AKNR Airbus A319-112 Germanwings PMI 05JUN13

New livery (in 2013!).

First flown with the Airbus test registration D-AVYI, this aircraft was delivered to US Airways as N736US in Apr-00.  It was sold to a lessor in Jun-05 and leased back to US Airways.  As US Airways was in bankruptcy protection at that time and rejected the lease.  The aircraft was returned to the lessor 5 days later!  After a short period of storage at Dublin it was leased to Germanwings as D-AKNR in Aug-05.  Technically, the aircraft was 'wet leased' to Eurowings at midnight on 28-Oct-17, operated by Germanwings (co-incidentally the same evening Air Berlin ceased operations).  The aircraft was stored at Dusseldorf, Germany in Mar-20 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  On 07-Apr-20, Lufthansa closed down Germanwings and the lease was transferred to Eurowings.  The aircraft was ferried to Perpignan, France in Nov-20 for continued storage.  It might have been permanently retired?  Stored, updated (Nov-20).
