Mudslide in Beverly Crest Los Angeles on February 5th

            On February 5, 2024 a Category 5 Atmospheric River brought torrential rain, flash flooding, and mudslides in Los Angeles along with many parts of California, prompting a state of emergency to be declared by the city and the state. Some celebrities returned to their home from the Grammy's to their homes in star-studded neighborhoods in the Santa Monica Mountains only to face the risk of mudslides, debris flow, and flash flooding. Los Angeles reported its 5th wettest February day, with up to 12" of rain reported at UCLA. Nearby neighborhoods such as Brentwood, Westwood, and Beverly Hills experienced flooding. Meanwhile, in the Hollywood Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains reported over 300 mudslides and many flood calls. The highest concentration of mudslides, flooding and emergency responses were concentrated in the Bel Air, Beverly Glen, and Beverly Crest. 
Many residents self-evacuated as mudslides and debris flow came tumbling down the canyons. Several homes were damaged by mudslides in Studio City and Beverly Glen, miraculously with no injuries reported.
