Four Bridges

            The final stop on my short jaunt around Angus and Aberdeenshire ended with the border bridges which span the River North Esk a few miles north of Montrose. I covered them in plenty of detail in 2011 but it's been a while and I was working with afternoon light this time round.

After walking along the river bank, taking various photos, I eventually stumbled upon this point which was by the far the best spot due to the near mirror perfect reflections of both the road bridge and the viaduct. The A92 bridge is one of the few single track main road bridges that isn't traffic light controlled. That's right, you're able to use your own judgement when it comes to crossing this bridge and I've never once been held up here. Perhaps if the A92 had been upgraded as the main route between Dundee and Aberdeen over the A90, there'd be a third, modern concrete structure crossing the river here?

The only issue with the bridge is that there's no room for pedestrians, however this issue is avoided as the Kinnaber Viaduct hosts a footpath which keeps everything nicely segregated.
