Shadow Play, Carlisle St., St Kitts - a photo on Flickriver

            Along the lines of a series of images recently posted trying to capture a vintage 1950s/60s colour scheme and structure, with a distinctly abstract layout (apologies to Mark Rothko). This was taken behind the Sahai Thai restaurant located on the corner of Carlisle Street and St Paul Street in downtown St Catharines, Ontario, generally referred to by locals as St Kitts. Once again this was taken in hard light but in this case the rather interesting shadow which deviates from the otherwise strict rectangular segment layout as well as the beige, faded red colours and the black shadows, was what caught my eye. - JW

Taken using a hand-held Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm 1:4.0 (with a polarizing filter) lense set to 120mm, ISO100, Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Shutter Priority mode, f/6.3, 1/500 sec. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image size to be 9000px wide, level the image, very slightly boost Contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, very slightly increase Vibrance, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: save, scale to 6000px wide, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px wide for posting online, save. No sharpening used at any stage.
