On a dull day recently, I took a short cut through a cemetery in Grimsby, Ontario. While walking through the grounds, my eye was attracted to a brilliant red tree (no real surprise there) set among some large grave markers. I have heard of cemeteries referred to as gardens of stones, although where I heard that I do not recall. A quick tripod set up and shoot captured this before the incoming storm stripped off most of the leaves in the area. BTW, the name on the stone, Jeffries, has no particular significance to me or my family, in case you were wondering. And, of course, Red Rule applies.- JW

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D7100 fitted with an AF-D Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lense, ISO100, Daylight WB, Aperture priority, f/3.2, 1/80. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final size to 9000px wide, crop a little off the top, bottom and left side to get rid of some extraneous intrusions and also to get rid of some distracting open sky,slightly darken image by apply a small amount (EV-0.17) of exposure compensation, slightly increase contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, apply a Graduated Neutral Density tool to darken the upper right diagonal area, slightly increase Vibrance, enable Shadows/Highlights and recover highlights slightly, apply noise reduction (very small amount), sharpen (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: brighten image overall using the tone curve tool, use the free select tool to select overly bright areas in the sky (upper right) and darken them and then select the lower left corner and darken the overly bright green grass, remove a bit of residual green colour cast, sharpen (edges only), save, scale image to 7193x4000px, sharpen slightly, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 2600px wide for posting online, sharpen slightly, save.
