About To Board The John Street Bus - a photo on Flickriver

            Back last summer, I was waiting on John Street in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, expecting to meet someone. As I stood around killing some time, I spotted a lady in colourful attire almost directly across the street from me, at a Northbound bus stop. A number of plastic bags were resting at her feet so I concluded she was waiting for a bus. As a bus came into view, she started to collect her bags while holding her red-clad mobile phone precariously by a few fingers. The overall colour-scape was set on a nice neutral grey backdrop provided by a security roll-up screen on the windows of a shop just behind her. If only for the phone and the Red Rule, I had to capture this moment. - JW

Taken using a hand-held Nikon D7100 fitted with an AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 lense (non-VR) set to 300mm, ISO1600 (Auto ISO), Auto WB, Shutter priority mode, f/6.3, 1/800 sec. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image size to be 9000 px wide, crop off the right side to eliminate the door edge, level the image, set exposure to (approx) +0.75 brighter than as-shot, increase contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, slightly increase vibrance, enable Shadows/highlights and do highlight recovery as well as some shadow recovery, sharpen, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: adjust tone curve to get a slightly brighter image by pulling up the curve at (approx) the mid-point, slightly increase saturation (just enough to clean up the colours), sharpen, save, scale image to 6000 wide (approx 6000x4800), sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 1800 wide for posting on-line, sharpen slightly, save.
