lettera dalla provincia leccese (roma 04)

            Si era stupito di quanto si era negato per tutti questi anni. Aveva deciso di rimanere confinato nella casa generalizia, sperando che una vita fatta solo di cose spirituali gli potesse aprire nuove strade davanti a sé. Adesso però era cambiato tutto. Il nuovo responsabile (uomo giovane e di tradizione moderna) pensava che quell’isolamento fosse deleterio, che avrebbe dovuto uscire, camminare nuovamente per la Città Eterna e rivederne lo splendore.
Era titubante e perplesso di fronte a quell’ordine. Ma eseguì chinando il capo, in obbedienza.
Ora non riusciva a capacitarsi di quello che vedeva, si guardava attorno completamente rapito dalla città, ebbro di bellezza. Felice.
Arrivò fino al Quirinale. Alla fine della salita si guardò alle spalle, e toccandosi la fronte, mentre ammirava il dislivello, si accorse che era umida e sudata. Felice e stupito si mise un dito in bocca e sentì il salato del suo sudore.
Rientrò alla casa poco prima di cena e andò subito dal responsabile a parlargli.
