N711HK | Boeing 737-7H4(WL) | Southwest Airlines

            Herbert David Kelleher was the co-founder of Southwest Airlines and later CEO. "Herb" was repeatedly voted as the best CEO in the airline industry. N711HK seen here in January is dedicated to the American Icon. 

Sadly, N711HK was withdrawn from use today; rather fortunate timing on my behalf in capturing it in Ontario, California, earlier this year! 

Happily, Southwest Airlines announced internally that the Classic "Desert Gold" retro livery will return on a Boeing 737-8 MAX later this year, in a continued dedication to their beloved founder. 

Hopefully some day I'll be able to photograph that one, too!
