Sunset through the trees at Pacific Grove

Jan had some artistic direction on my sunset shots. Rather than just shooting the sun as it sank into the ocean through a layer of distant cloud, she thought it'd be nice to catch some foreground action, and the cypress trees that line the shore of Pacific Grove near Monterey seemed like the perfect subjects... we even managed to get the odd gull or two to join in with the action!

Now what you can't tell from this peaceful looking shot is that the wind was actually blowing very strongly (so much so that I had to hold the tripod to stop it from getting blown over) and the ocean spray carried in the wind was COLD!!!! Jan did the sensible thing and watched from warmth of the car while I stood outside and took the shots!
