CATS Blue Line @ Night A - a photo on Flickriver

            Just before 9 pm on February 23, 2008, two Charlotte light rail trains are at the southernmost end of the line. On weekends, one train was left at this station until another train came in. The engineer of that train would then step into the other LRV and take it northbound with passengers. 

The Charlotte Lynx Light rail line opened on November 24, 2007. At the time, it was a line from near I-485 to uptown Charlotte almost seventy years after the previous Charlotte streetcar system was dismantled in 1938 in favor of bus service. It runs partly on former Southern Railway roadbed which was abandoned in the 1950s when that railroad opened a new line away from the downtown area. In 2016, an extension opened to the UNCC campus north of town.
