With the disruptions and uncertainties we have all faced with Covid 19 this year, this penguin represents the hero that the world never imagined it would need. Armed/Flippered with sanitiser, a mask and a QR scanner, Gary Te Tuahangata will be a mighty force of defence for Aotearoa.

Design Inspiration

Our school learnt about penguins, in particular, the emperor penguins on Antartica. We studied global warming and the effects that this has had on the wildlife and rising seawaters. Our penguin ‘ice berg’ represents the sun, the water and the icebergs.
