Armchair Traveling - Lake Makati, Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

            Today's edition of "Armchair Traveling During the Coronavirus Lockdown" takes me back to the day we visited Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Each National Park and Conservancy that we visited had unique landscapes, but inside the crater was the most beautiful of all those we visited. We drove down from the rim before dawn, and experiencing the early hours in the crater was a truly memorable experience. 

Lake Makati in the middle of the crater, is named after the Massai word for soda, as it is an alkaline lake with dry soda pans, covering an area of 7 square miles. The rafts of pink flamingoes shimmered in the early morning light.
