Deer Crossing - a photo on Flickriver

Deer Crossing

            Sometimes the deer traffic on the trail gets so heavy that they should put in crosswalks. These deer were quite bold and allowed me to get rather close before deciding to head off into the brush.  (don't worry about traffic - no cars allowed - only bikers, walkers and joggers.)

This is a single RAW image tonemapped in Photomatix. Since I don't carry the tripod on my 12 mile walks (how lazy of me...) my HDRs are usually 3-handheld images, but with the deer trotting across the scene, 3 images would not have been possible. I quite like the effect that you can sometimes get from processing just one image in Photomatix.
