First Strike - a photo on Flickriver

First Strike

            I set up camp on the top of a mountain to capture clouds changing color at sunset, but I ended up capturing much more!  The lightning continued for over an hour into the night, so I kept my cameras going while cooking dinner on a campfire nearby.

The lightning is striking Bald Mountain in the Wovoka Wilderness Study Area, as seen from the Bodie Hills across the Rosaschi Ranch on the East Walker River.

A new Nevada State Park on the East Walker River will preserve 29 river miles down by Mason Valley.
