A granite rock visit - a photo on Flickriver

            A series of photos recording a visit in 2008 with our grandson to a large granite rock.

We were here after a day of rain, so we were able to teach our grandson not to walk on the "black stuff" on granite rocks and other general granite rock care. The black gets very slippery when wet!

We loaned Jye a digital camera and allowed him to choose whatever he wanted to take and as many as he wanted to.

Granite Rock care
Walk gently on granite and try not to damage the moss mats or lichen growth. It can take a long time for them to recover.
Leave animals, plants, rocks and wood where you find them; each has its place in the delicate balance of nature. ie if you turn over a rock to see what lives there, turn it back afterwards. It may be an insect or lizard home. Be careful, snakes can also live under the rocks.
Take only photos of the plant, insect/arachnid life.
Leave pets at home.
Leave no trace.
We have people who think the rocks are a great challenge to drive cars and motorbikes on, not realizing the longterm damage they are doing.
