"Opening Day" - a photo on Flickriver

"Opening Day"

            Life is filled with fleeting moments.  There are just a few days each year that this image can be made.  I look forward to the shagbark hickory's opening day every year.  The buds start off small, and as Spring matures, the buds swell, and then open.  The young leaves look like hands reaching for the sun.  I like the color in the bud scales.

I made this image with my Pentax K5 and Pentax 50-135mm lens.  Processing was done in Aperture 3.

Camera settings:  ISO 800, aperture f/2.8, shutter 1/2000, focal length 123mm
