The Man Mo Temple is seen by many to be iconic and certainly for locals it is, being one of Hong Kong’s oldest Temples and the fact that the Temple has a Grade 1 Heritage Listing. From a purely religious perspective as well the Temple is very important.

Hong Kong has over 750 Temples and I have visited many of them and doing what I do I have to choose one Temple to visit when I do a Private Tour of Hong Kong... and I choose not to visit the Man Mo Temple, I much prefer to visit the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple in Kowloon for any number of reasons, the main one being is that it is a much more comprehensive insight into Hong Kong Culture.

This means I rarely visit the Man Mo Temple, as much as I find it moody and culturally interesting, it is too small, you can be in and out in 5 minutes but the biggest issue is that many thousands of tourists from all over the world on coach tours visit the Temple daily and they simply overwhelm the Temple.

If you find yourself on Hollywood Road then by all means pay the Man Mo Temple a visit and then pop over the road to Upper Lascar Row aka Cat Street and purchase some low priced “antiques” | this little stretch of road is awesome!
