La materia del tiempo -Serpiente (Snake, 1994–97) Expl.

            Este es el título de esta obra del escultor Richard Serra (San Francisco, EEUU, 1939). Ha creado siete esculturas monumentales de ubicación específica por  encargo del Museo Guggenheim  de Bilbao y para su Colección Propia. Se encuentra  presente allí, desde junio de 2005 y  fue instalada por el artista de forma permanente. Las personas permiten tomar noción del tamaño de la obra.
Ya lo sabréis seguramente pero el edificio del museo, conocido y fotografiado maravillosamente por muchos de vosotros, fue diseñado por Frank Gehry, y estas esculturas se unen a su pieza Serpiente (Snake, 1994–97) (realizada para la inauguración del Museo), para crear una instalación de ubicación específica de una escala y dimensión sin precedentes en la historia moderna. El inicio de su actividad artística en la década de los sesenta coincide con el minimalismo, movimiento con el que Richard Serra comparte intereses.
