Swept Away

This time I joined up with James and Aaron for a shoot down in Santa Cruz once again. The massive storm system had been predicted to hit the California coast this afternoon but was somewhat delayed in making its landfall as it sat off the coast the entire day. We took the opportunity of partly cloudy skies and jetted down to Cripps beach as James called this area. Actually it’s more of an unnamed beach in Wilder Ranch State Park but has been made known to photographer by Joshua Cripps.

Upon arrival I realized I had been here once before last year to photograph the natural bridge that occurs at this beach. However the tide today was not high enough to reach through the bridge and made the composition there rather monotonous. I scouted around and settled for a different spot with some rugged black rocks that were quite reflective.

Trying to change things up I went for a vertical composition. The sky did explode today as I though most of the colors ended up appearing near the horizon. I hope you enjoy and Happy New Year to the Year of the Dragon.
