something or someone smells good! - a photo on Flickriver

Thought this would be a nice one to share whilst catching up on 10-ish days of of my favourite Flickr people's lives tonight and tomorrow. And as I write that, it dawns that I've crossed a hurdle. I feel at home here. No reason to impress, feeling so much more myself. Heart-felt thanks to you people who know who you are :-)

Five minutes before Ian and Sam arrived, I walked across the yard with a bag of big hide chews to give them all a treat and displace them from manically barking on the arrival of our visitors, as they would otherwise do. It worked.

Once more, I was about to witness who would choose who, to be lifelong companions. And that seems crazy to me. Can we do that in an hour ? It's taken me nearly a year to know, understand and fall completely in love with each pup as an individual, and them, me. Yet I remember vividly, and hope we've all had, love at first sight?

That happened here... though not in a neat and tidy way :-)

Not one, but two of the pups took more than a shine in the orchard to both of these lovely people I'd met at the car boot sale, and who had lost their lab/shepherd cross 8 months ago, 12 years old.

Only one can go on to a better life being with Sam and Ian all day long, running with them in the early morning, and sharing for the rest of the day, their 40 acre show-ground. What a life it will be!

I will take a few pics of the two for Sam and Ian this week, and acclimatise both pups first to jumping in my van and then travelling.

Then, say goodbye to one.

If it's Tony — named by our dear friend WaterWindStars — (Rob still calls him Pip, as he looks like his mum) he'll still be in my dreams. As will Ted.

(Rob will be worrying about this 'adoption' for a good while)
