On This Day, May 1st 2011

            A third NSU deisel-electric loco stands alone and some distance from the old Marree train station.  These locos were  built in 1954 and 1955 by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, England, for the Commonwealth Railways for use on the narrow-gauge Central Australia Railway and North Australia Railway.  Both railways were closed and have since been replaced by the south–north transcontinental railway running from Adelaide through Alice Springs and on to Darwin.
