Day 27 - Take "The Ghan" to Adelaide

            Measuring 780 metres (853 yards) long, The Ghan stands at Alice Springs railway station.  With time up my sleeve, and the temperature around 40C (104F), I took a hike along the train (my car was the 5th last) to the front of the train to get a shot of the locos.  

This leg of my great train adventure will take about 20 hours with no scheduled stops, although we will stop briefly at a siding in the desert to disembark four German tourists who will be met by a minibus and whisked away to experience an opal mine and spend a night in a subterranean hotel.
