Sentinels illuminated - a photo on Flickriver

Sentinels illuminated - A supremely still and calm early spring morning dawns on Buttermere producing near mirror perfect reflections of the pines, overlooked by Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks.

The iconic row of scots pines, or sentinels as they are often named, situated at the southern end of the lake really come alive when lit by the first light of day. The changing angle of the rising sun throughout the seasons as it strikes Fleetwith Pike makes for different early illumination of the sentinels throughout the year.

Buttermere, and this scene, is one of my favourite locations in the beautiful Lake District and are hard to beat when conditions are as serene and as perfect as this. So looking forward to be able to return sometime soon.
