Carex vs Typha latifolia - a photo on Flickriver

            These cattails cooperated by letting go their seeds in the sunshine and light breeze, on Thanksgiving.

A depression along the highway roadbed creates a wet area ideal for cattail. Further on, the sedges thrive in a higher part of the wetland.

This wetland is owned and stewarded by Lower Nehalem Community Trust, along the Nehalem River Estuary.
